Louis Appleby (b. 1991, Lancaster) lives and works in Lancaster, North England. He completed his BA in Painting at Wimbledon College of Art in 2014 and his MA in Painting at Royal College of Art in 2019. His work explores themes such as dystopia, destruction of the planet, and futurology all viewed through the lens of post digital humans. The paintings are aesthetically influenced by computer graphics, cartoons, video games and sci-fi films. His practice as an artist builds on the traditions of still-life painting and are highly rendered in a cartoon-like hyper realistic way.
